Journal → Quick update on Chris
September 27th, 2009 by Shaun Kuppe
Unfortunately, from time to time some bad news needs to be delivered. Chris was rear ended by a sod truck a couple of days ago in Toowoomba, Australia. He’s in the hospital with a broken hand and ankle. Could be much worse! The extent of the damage to his bike is currently unknown.
Chris does not have access to a computer at the moment, but will post an update as soon as possible!
Until then, here’s an epic picture from many years ago.

Chris,
I’ve been enjoying your blog posts while riding and flying up here in Portland Oregon. What a bummer to get hit. When you’re riding so much, the chances are always there that some thing will happen. And as your friend said, it likely could have been worse (or in worse places). Bikes and trucks don’t mix well. I hope you get better and can get back to your adventure soon. I suspect you have a lot of good people to support you there in Australia. Keep the adventure going! Good luck. If you ever come through Portland Oregon, you are welcome to stay with the wife and I. We can talk Paragliding, riding and climbing – my three favorite pursuits.

What the fuck? I thought Chris had to get sucker-punched by a fucking galaxy to go back to hospital! There’s gotta be some miscommunication – Chris doesn’t have “bones” that can “break”, he’s got titanium slinkys! Except for the stainless steel of his balls (Some say that he has a black hole in his pants to store them, because they’re so big they’d throw the Earth’s rotation off), he’s made of alien hyper-alloys! I fully expect to see pictures of this sodding truck folded around Chris’s bike like a nymphomaniacal gymnast, Barnecut grinning out of the wreckage, completely unhurt.
In seriousness: heal fast, Brother. I think someone owes you a new bike and it’d be a shame to let it sit in a garage or showroom floor for too long.

Hey mate,
After the welding we did here at the farm you go and test out the strength of our welds ahahahahahaha. Bloody hell mate all you had to do is hit it with a big hammer or something however well done a charging the truck, clearly you did not have enough ramming speed a simple mistake for a first attempt.
We are arching the welder again as I type might chop your bike into a trike maybe?? might build you a full roll cage ahahahahahahaha dam I think we will hahahahahah will make a good photo. well we have your bike and your not getting it back till you bring 1 x black bic pen 2 x bottles of water (the good stuff) 4 x packets of big red chewing gum (got hooked on that in Iraq) oh and Brad wants a bottle of diet coke.

Chris it was wise and smart to plan ride Africa east instead of west coast.when you are going to be in Europe, vist Poland you would not be disappointed.
